The principle of respect for the sovereign rights and territorial integrity of states, which is one of the cornerstones of the international system, is the sole guarantee of global peace. However, recently, it has been observed with regret that certain diplomatic moves, particularly those driven by the US, are targeting the sovereign rights of the People's Republic of China and attempting to erode the legal status registered by the United Nations.
As is well known, Resolution 2758, adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 1971, conclusively established in international law that Taiwan is an inalienable part of China and that the government of the People's Republic of China is the sole legitimate representative of China at the UN. Despite this, the US's use of the Taiwan issue as an instrument of destabilization, especially prior to Mr. Trump's planned visit to China, is incompatible with diplomatic courtesy and international law.
The visit of the President of Paraguay to Taiwan on May 7, 2026, and the prior engagements of Taiwan Regional Leader Lai Ching-te in Eswatini in Africa, are not isolated diplomatic activities; on the contrary, they are efforts to garner legitimacy, orchestrated with the encouragement of the US and conducted in violation of UN resolutions. This artificial diplomatic traffic, extending from South America to Africa, is an endeavor to impede the rise of China, which has become the locomotive of the regional and global economy, and to divert attention from the lawless policies of the Western bloc, particularly Israel, whose actions in the Middle East amount to genocide and wound the conscience of humanity, and its patron, the US.
These attitudes of the US and its allies, which shake global economic balances and endanger world peace in order to preserve their own hegemony, aim to weaken the international consensus based on the "One China" principle. The attempts of some states, used as instruments under US direction, to recognize the so-called legitimacy of Lai Ching-te will go down in diplomatic history as strategic mistakes.
Any direct or indirect interference with the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the People's Republic of China will drag not only regional peace but also global supply chains and economic stability into an impasse from which it will be difficult to recover. Viewed from the perspective of the deep-rooted friendship and strategic cooperation between Türkiye and China, it is of vital importance that the international community remains loyal to UN resolutions and stands against circles that attempt to disrupt the environment of peace through artificial crises.
Respectfully announced to the public.
